Products Files on AladdinStores – FAQ
1. What is the difference between Import and Export?
Import allows you to upload products into your store using XML or CSV files.Export allows you to download a copy of your existing products for backup, bulk editing, or transferring to another platform.
2. Which file formats are supported for Import?
You can import products using:
• CSV files (recommended)
• XML files
Excel files (.xlsx) are not supported.You must save them as CSV before importing.
3. What is the easiest way to bulk upload products?
Using Import CSV is the easiest and most recommended method for bulk uploading, bulk editing, or updating product information.
4. What is “Update Existing Products”?
This option is used when you want to update products already in your store.Products must match by SKU or ID.If there is no match, the product will be skipped.
5. Do I need to use the Advanced Options for importing?
No.Advanced settings (CSV delimiter, server path, previous mapping) are optional and only needed for special cases.Most sellers can leave them unchanged.
6. What is Column Mapping?
Column Mapping is where you match each column in your CSV (Name, Price, SKU, etc.) to the correct product field in your store.This ensures the system places every product detail in the right place.
7. Why can’t I import my Excel (.xlsx) file?
The system only accepts CSV for mapping and importing.Save your Excel file as CSV (Comma Delimited) before uploading.
8. Can I import product images?
Yes.Images must be added as image URLs inside your CSV file.Multiple images can be separated by commas.
9. How do I fix import errors?
Check that:
• Your file is saved as CSV
• Each product has a SKU (important for updating)
• Columns follow the correct format
• Delimiter is set to a comma
• You mapped all required fields (e.g., Name, SKU)

10. What is the difference between XML and CSV Export?
• XML Export → Best for developers or transferring data between systems
• CSV Export → Best for editing, reviewing, or re-importing products
CSV is recommended for most sellers.
11. Can I export all product data at once?
Yes.Choose:
• Export all columns
• Export all product types
• Export all custom meta
Then click Generate CSV.This will create one complete file with all product information.
12. Can I export only selected product details?
Yes.You can select specific columns such as only:
• ID
• SKU
• Name
• Price
• Stock…and only the product types you want.
The exported CSV will contain only the fields you selected.
13. Can I combine columns, product types, and custom meta in one export?
Yes.You can choose:✔ specific columns✔ specific product types✔ export all custom meta
All selections will be combined into one CSV file.
Only one exception:If you select Export all columns, it overrides your manual column selections.
14. Why should I export my products?
Exporting is useful for:
• Backing up your store
• Editing products in Excel or Google Sheets
• Re-importing updates
• Moving your catalog to another marketplace
• Preparing templates for bulk uploads
15. Where do I find my exported file?
After generating the file, your browser will ask to:
• Open
• Save
• Save As
Choose Save or Save As and download it to your computer or USB drive.
16. Why is my exported CSV file empty?
Possible reasons:
• You selected product types that your store does not have
• No products match your column selections
• You did not click Generate CSV at the end
• All products are in Draft/Hidden state
Try selecting Export all columns and Export all product types to verify.
17. Can I export variations separately?
Yes.Using XML Export, choose:
• VariationThis downloads only product variations (size, color, etc.).
18. Do exported files include images?
CSV exports will include image URLs, not image files.Your actual images stay stored in your website media library.
19. Can I re-import the exported CSV file?
Yes.You can export → edit → re-import.This is the easiest way to update bulk product information.
